CJ and the Webmom
We're posting this a day late and we definitely apologize. We normally post our podcast recordings on the same day we do our podcasts but life got in the way.

Well, actually, we forgot what day it was!

For some reason, we were thinking it was Tuesday all day. Ever have that happen to you?

We didn't even do the chatcast yesterday! *gasp* We're definitely making up for it today though!

Feeling overwhelmed with homeschool options? Not sure where to start or if you are even "good enough" to start?

Join us as we discuss this, why we homeschool, where you can go to stretch your entertainment budget and how to start your natural adventures.

It's a good thing we're a good week ahead of schedule as far as work goes or we'd have been in some big time trouble! =)

You can bet we'll be looking at our Calendar a little more closely from now on ...

Yep, this subject has really gotten my attention. I am so glad I finally picked up Dan Kennedy’s “No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs,” after meaning to read it for quite some time. You’ve gotta love a time management book that’s short enough to read in a couple hours or less!

Here are three gems from Dan…why not try them out this week and see what happens?

1) Absolute punctuality is absolutely powerful. As a professional speaker for nearly three decades, Dan has shared the stage with some of the most successful people on the planet, including Colin Powell and Henry Kissinger. The one discipline the top achievers all share is punctuality: being where you are supposed to be, when you’re supposed to be, as promised, without excuses. This provides personal power for a number of reasons – it demonstrates your integrity, it’s a simple way to impress others, and it speaks volumes about your self-esteem and self-discipline.

I’ll admit, this is one area where Dan and I differ. Especially in social situations, I’m not one to get stressed out about being late…plus, I find that when I am on time, I often find myself sitting there alone because the other people are late. Well, that might just prove Dan’s point: punctuality stands out, in a good way. I think I’ll give this approach another try, by integrating it with the next tip:

2) Make the most of “Odd-Lot” time. Although Dan is a fanatic scheduler who looks for efficiency when setting up meetings and business trips, he still has to sit in traffic from time to time or wait in offices or airports. In the car, he listens to books on tape, both educational and entertaining. He keeps files of articles torn from magazines that have caught his eye and carries them with him on trips; once an article is done, he generally throws it away and lightens his load as he goes.

I always have a notepad handy to jot down ideas and make a note of copy that I think is good. When I’m waiting to pick up my kids, I use that time to make these notes or just “ideate” on things that would help my business. Who knew you could be more patient and more productive at the same time?

3) Improve your work environment and hit peak productivity faster. Take a look at where you’re working: is it somewhere you’d be proud to show the world? Do you feel comfortable there? Dan is a big believer in psychological triggers and packs his home office with images that remind him of qualities he wants to attain. He has several clocks positioned around the office to remind himself of the passing of time, and he has been using Asian Feng Shui principles since they first caught the attention of Western business.

Sometimes it’s challenging to work in a home office, no matter how tidy it is or how ‘Feng Shui compliant’ it might be! One way to get to a more productive place is to literally get up and go work in another place: at a coffee shop, a shared office, heck, even a park bench might work. Some people even take train rides just to have an uninterrupted place to work, and I’ve read of one entrepreneur who occasionally rents herself a hotel room in her own town when she has a bunch of work to do. As Dan says, if they can’t find you, they can’t bother you!

All in all, what makes these so powerful is that they are 100% in your control. When you start paying attention to how you spend your time and making small changes, great things start to happen. You may get the feeling that you’ve been given a big helping of the most precious, irreplaceable resource there is: time.

Well, heck. We all know we shouldn't let our careers come before our God or our families, right?

The priorities should be:
  1. God
  2. Spouse
  3. Kids
  4. Career

If you are a single parent (like I am) you can skip the Spouse and go straight to Kids.

In our household, our pets count as Kids too and boy have the last couple of months been tough! Clark Kent got a bacterial infection in his nasal cavities, we rushed him to the vet. $1,000 and a couple of prescription refills later he disappears. No sound or sight of him anywhere.

Then we find out one of the wild kittens got pregnant even though she never went into heat. Animals can get raped too, we found out the hard way. I was raped myself and cried buckets over the poor little girl.

She went into labor prematurely because the other kittens started drinking her now-budding body and the kitten was so huge it got stuck. A breech birth, HUGE kitten and the mom-to-be's first litter. Oh jeez.

The only reason we caught up to her, to try to help her, was that she flopped down. Who knows how long she'd been walking around with a dead kitten halfway in and halfway out of her body!

So here I am. My concentration is shot, I'm feeling so cranky and frustrated because I feel so impotent and unable to control my wandering mind, which makes it hard to control my life.

Lord, I would not wish a lot of my life experiences on anyone but I can tell you that - you know this is coming - I still see silver linings in this.

Clark wasn't doing too well. I was at the point where I'd have to decide to put him down or continue treatment until the bitter end (which seemed pretty close, let me tell you). His disappearance was, in an odd way, a kindness because I didn't have to watch him die.

The breech kitten? If it'd been born the other way, we would have killed it just trying to get it out of the little momma. He/she was that huge. Again, we didn't have to watch him/her die or unintentionally kill him/her. Another blessing in disguise.

That little momma? Her name is Rhyce. She is the wild kitten CJ has been trying to become BFF's with from the beginning. Her two brothers (Mr. Katz and Grayson) have chosen to become housecats but Rhyce? She wouldn't have it. Until now.

What are the bad things going on in your life? Can you see a silver lining anywhere? It may not seem like it but God does try to ease our burdens. It just takes a little observation to see Him at work.

Wishing you much peace, happiness and success,

Wishing you much peace, happiness and success,

During a training seminar yesterday, I was accidentally introduced to this absolutely fabulous video on TED (a site I cannot recommend enough).

By accidentally, I mean the presenter was sharing his Facebook view as part of his demonstration and someone had shared this video. The title caught my eye so I jotted down what information I could see and searched for it after the session was over.

The Lord truly works in mysterious ways!

In this video, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg talks about what women can do to succeed in leadership. She also points out the key reasons why we struggle to get and stay at the top. Very good stuff!

After watching this, I hope you will share it. Not just with the women you know but with the men too. We can all benefit from the truths in this message.

Are you planning to camp for one night, a weekend, a week or more and aren't entirely sure your family is ready?

Do a practice run or two in your backyard!

Not only are you in a safe, familiar place but you are just a few feet away from anything you may have forgotten.

Another great benefit is that you get to figure out what you don't need to take.

We all know we should pack for safety and unexpected events but how much stuff is too much stuff? Extra, unnecessary stuff means extra weight, extra trouble and extra work you don't need or want!

Want to get outdoors but aren't sure where to start?

Backpacker.com has an awesome section called "Backpacking 101" that we highly recommend.

They've got tips for picking out gear, skills you'll need, survival planning (just in case), leaving no trace and a lot more!

Have fun, stay safe and God bless,

Since 1952, the International Association of Administrative Professionals has honored office workers by sponsoring Administrative Professionals Week. Today, it is one of the largest workplace observances outside of employee birthdays and major holidays.

In the year 2000, IAAP announced a name change for Professional Secretaries Week and Professional Secretaries Day. The names were changed to Administrative Professionals Week and Administrative Professionals Day to keep pace with changing job titles and expanding responsibilities of today’s administrative workforce.

Over the years, Administrative Professionals Week has become one of the largest workplace observances. The event is celebrated worldwide, bringing together millions of people for community events, educational seminars and individual corporate activities recognizing support staff.

Today, there are more than 4.1 million secretaries and administrative assistants working in the United States, according to U.S. Department of Labor statistics, and 8.9 million people working in various administrative support roles. More than 475,000 administrative professionals are employed in Canada. Millions more administrative professionals work in offices all over the world.

APW is always the last full week in April. This year, Administrative Professionals Week is April 24-30 and Administrative Professionals Day is Wednesday, April 27.

We've joked about it a few times. Well, half-joked anyway. The story of our eco-friendly shredder is totally true. It's just kinda funny too! =)

There have been times that - because of all the traveling that we've done - the Webmom's favorite shredder is packed away.

That's when we start singing, "Who ya gonna call? Mr. Katzes!"

We know, we know. That doesn't rhyme and it doesn't sound anything like the real Ghostbusters theme song and "Katzes" isn't a word BUT little dude can seriously take care of business.

<img class="aligncenter" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_AXXuBpXI7QM/Ta82qzFGnhI/AAAAAAAAAII/09Vyi2tZqiE/s400/Mr.Kats-EcoFriendlyShredder.jpg" alt="Mr. Katz - The CJsKidsClub.com Eco-Friendly Shredder" width="400" height="300" /

Check THAT shredder action out! =)

Mr. Katz is not a year old yet. He's one of four kittens that a wild ranch cat we named Stardust had. CJ had been working with Mr. Katz's sister (Rhyce) but got a surprise when Mr. Katz chose him one day!

Seriously. Little dude fell asleep on CJ's lap outside, three days later spent his first night inside and two days later left with us on a trip through Georgia and Iowa.

He's cute as a button, very formally dressed (fur-mally? ha ha) but the most stubborn little rascal we've ever known. Guess he fits in perfectly with our family ...

So much going on! We tried to cover it all but - per usual - we got a little sidetracked. That Pokerap is just so catchy. =)

We've added the Natural Kid program to our line-up, moving the Family Empowerment series over to the Webmom's website, recap on the Mother's Day Wrap Party, mods and upgrades to Storytime and lots of giggles in between.

Did we remember to finish all of our sentences? Probably not but at least you get a giggle out of us, right?

I Stole Ur Eyelash Curler, Hope U Don't Mind

It's gotten too hard to try to keep all my blogs and sites up. So right now, as you read this, I'm debating whether to port the posts on this blog over to my main site: http://grjensine.com.

Due to the nature of that site though, I wouldn't be able to take some of my racier posts with me. Hello, "This Is The U.S.A. Dammit!".

Since I've already chucked all but two sites (CJ's Kids Club and GR Jensine, Inc.), perhaps I could leave this as my super-inner-thoughts-that-don't-fit-on-a-business-site site.

Then again, if folks can find my racier stuff online anyway ...

Thoughts?

An Executive Order came through the CJ's Kids Club Clubhouse late last night: the Family Empowerment teleseminar series is moving.

Yes, the Webmom has spoken. =)

The Family Empowerment calls will now be hosted at GR Jensine, Inc. (the Webmom's company). We'll even link you to them so it'll be super easy to stay in the loop.

Don't worry, they will still take place every Sunday night at 8:00 PM Central and they'll still be free!

Why the change?

To be totally honest, this is something we've been debating for a couple of weeks. Although the Family Empowerment calls are family-friendly, they also deal with topics that can be emotionally heavy. That's not what CJ's Kids Club is about.

CJ's Kids Club is dedicated to promoting self-confidence and learning fun.

You've probably read our post about becoming "Natural Leaders" already. That is exactly what CJ's Kids Club is all about. Nature, animals, health and wellness (nutrition, exercise and stuff), caring for our planet, adventuring and sharing knowledge with others.

So, to make a long story short (too late?) ...

We're moving the Coaching services over to GR Jensine, Inc. and adding several Natural Kid programs to CJ's Kids Club. =)

Will you notice a big difference? Probably not.

We'll be linking back and forth between CJ's Kids Club and GR Jensine, Inc. so other than having to click on a link, it'll be interaction as usual.

Have fun and stay safe,
CJ and the Webmom

See what we did there? =)

We'd like to thank everyone who showed up for our first annual "Mother's Day Wrap Party".

In case you missed it, you are in luck! The recording has been processed and is ready for sharing.

The Handout we referred to can be downloaded or printed from here.

As promised, we're sharing pictures of CJ's craft samples but wait! Are you sure you are ready?

Okay, okay. We'll stop teasing!

Here's the by-the-book version CJ made as a school project. (Can you tell it travels with us?)

Mother's Day Craft - Original

Here's the version we made for the Wrap Party today. It's in the "open for viewing" position.

Mother's Day Craft - New

Now you can see it closed. Don't you think that will store well all nicely folded?

Mother's Day Craft 2011 - Folded

Yep. We made that in about an hour today. We had every intention of making a "perfect" one like before but we just couldn't stop ourselves from, well, being ourselves. =)

For craft instructions, links to the material and some bonus ideas, download the Handout. To hear us be our goofy selves and hear about the mods we made to make the new version fold safely for storage, listen to the recording!

Congrats again to Tina from North Carolina who won a 175 piece wrap set straight from our Cello Shop.

We have more events planned so keep an eye on our Calendar or sign up for our "What's Up At The Club?" Newsletter to get weekly updates.

Have fun and stay safe,

We are excited to announce that we've become Children & Nature Network Natural Leaders!

Do you think you can you guess what our first Natural Kid program is going to be?

You know how we always talk about everything having a reason for being because God made them for something, even if we don't know (or like) what that something is, right?

Wellllll ... our very first Natural Kid program is going to be all about "Creepy Crawly Critters"!

Bugs. Insects. Worms. Spiders. Snakes. Ticks. Fleas.

Stuff that usually makes boys go "cool" and everyone else go "eww". Well, maybe we all go "eww" when it comes to ticks and fleas! =)

We're going to be taking a closer look at these guys to try and figure them out. It means we'll have to go outside, hunt them down and do some research.

We'll be adventuring all over south Texas. From San Antonio, east to Corpus Christi, down to South Padre Island and everywhere in between.

Squishing and stomping isn't allowed but bug repellent definitely is!

Keep your eyes peeled for a entry called "Creepy Crawly Critters". It will tell you where we're going to be, how you can meet up with us and how you can stay in the loop even if you miss an adventure or two.

Have fun and stay safe,
CJ and the Webmom

In the announcements for last Sunday's call, you may have heard the Webmom say that gratitude is the closest thing we have to Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother’s wand. Poof! Your life can change in an instant.

No, she hasn't gone bonkers (yet) and she's not advocating living in a fantasy world. What she shared on Sunday night's call was real world magic. It's the power of transformation. Instant transformation.

Per usual, this totally free, no-strings-attached Family Empowerment call got the Webmom excited!

In fact, it was so exciting that you missed part of the show.

You see, when the Webmom gets excited, she starts talking really fast - with both her words and her hands! You know if she had a magic wand, she'd have been blasting you all with magic dust. =)

REVIEW OF THE WEEK

This week, we’re reviewing the Pokemon Johto Series Mini Plush Pichu.

This Officially Licensed Pokemon Product is approximately 6" tall and weighs 13 ounces.

Product Description
Pokemon Mini Plush Figures are so cute and soft.

(Seriously. That's the description!)

CJ’s Thoughts
This plush really is cute, cuddly and has a happy face.

2 thumbs up.

The Webmom’s Thoughts
I wasn't too sure I wanted to spend a little over $20 on a plush toy since CJ is a slightly older child now. I was pleasantly surprised at how this product looks like the character it was modeled after. Pichu really looks like Pichu.

I have to agree with CJ totally on this one. Cute, cuddly, has a happy face and made of durable cloth material. Plus, it's one of CJ's all-time favorite Pokemon characters so it's a win-win.

2 thumbs up.

Overall
It's a great product for Pokemon fans. Like all Poke-products, this one is almost guaranteed to sell out and restock at a significantly higher price. We recommend getting one now and taking good care of it. The last time we checked, there were only 2 left.

IN THE KITCHEN WITH CHEF CJ

This week, we're sharing a special treat: CJ's Famous Sandwiches!

CJ does actually make lunch sometimes and this is his go-to favorite.

What You’ll Need
  • Bread

  • Lettuce

  • Tomato

  • Bologna

  • Mayonnaise

  • Spreading Knife (the kind that isn't sharp)

Step 1
Have an adult help you slice the tomato.

Step 2
Place 4 slices of tomato on one side of bread.

Step 3
Place a sandwich-sized piece of lettuce on the tomato. Or shredded lettuce, if you prefer.

Step 4
Drop some mayonnaise onto the lettuce. As little or as much as you like.

Step 5
Place the bologna on top of the mayonnaise.

Step 6
Put the second slice of bread on top of the bologna.

Step 7
Cut your delicious sandwich into triangles. You can skip this step if you'd like.

Step 8
Eat it! Yum!

PROJECT OF THE WEEK

This week's project comes from Nat Geo Kids and is called “Summer Fun: Make a List!”

The long weeks of summer fun stretch ahead of you. You'll have more time to spend with your friends and family since you won't have to worry about homework.

You probably have some great ideas for what to do to fill up the next few months. Why not make a list with your parents? Fill it with all the cool things you want to be sure to do as a family before the summer ends.

What You’ll Need
  • A large sheet of paper or posterboard

  • A pen or permanent marker

  • Gold star stickers (other colors are fine, too!)

  • Markers (optional)

  • Other stickers, glitter glue, and other decorative touches (optional)

Step 1
Sit down with your family and talk about the things you might like to do this summer. Create columns of different types of activities (such as things to learn, things to make, places to go, and so on), then fill them in.

Step 2
Decorate your list! Draw pictures of the things you’ll be doing. Let your imagination run wild!

Step 3
Each time you complete an activity on your list, mark it with a gold star. See how many stars you can collect before you go back to school.

[Keep watching kids.nationalgeographic.com for fun
summer activity ideas you can add to your list!]

CHEESY JOKE TIME #2

Q. What do you call an alligator that goes undercover?
A. An investi-gator!! Par-rum-pum-ch!

FREE CHAT TIME

We're covering homeschooling, homesteading, incubated chicks, dogs in rehab, two of our favorite sites and more!

SIGN-OFF

Again, we’d like to thank GR Jensine, Inc. and all of our awesome listeners for generously supporting this program.

It’s been great having you with us today. We hope you’ll join us next week for another great CJsKidsClub.com Chatcast. This is CJ and the Webmom, signing off!

CJ and the Webmom
If you are having problems "getting into reading", try thinking of it like a movie in your mind that YOU get to direct.

As you read the words, imagine the sights, sounds, touches, tastes and smells in your head.

Another thing you may want to try is getting involved.

Get out there and pick your books!

What do you like to do? Where would you like to travel to? What do you want to become?

We're pretty sure that no matter what you are interested in, someone's written a book about it. If they haven't, maybe you will be the one who does the research and publishes it!

Have fun and stay safe,
CJ and the Webmom

In the announcements for last Sunday’s call, you may have heard me say that gratitude is the closest thing we have to Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother’s wand.

Poof! Your life can change in an instant.

No, I haven’t gone bonkers (yet) and I’m not advocating living in a fantasy world.
What I shared on Sunday night’s call was real world magic. It’s the power of transformation. Instant transformation.

Per usual, this totally free, no-strings-attached Family Empowerment call got me excited!

In fact, it was so exciting that you missed part of the show.

This event is over. Here is the recording:
You see, when I get excited, I start talking really fast – with both my words and my hands!

If I had had a magic wand, I’d have been blasting you all with magic dust. =)

Wishing you much peace, happiness and success,
Penny
