This post could have also been called "One Of My Favorite Verses" but I think the title was more of where this post is going.

It's always been my goal to be who I am offline and on. Do audio entries help you "get" me? I've been thinking about adding video posts but it's hard to schedule them around the noise of the homestead and when I have fresh makeup on. LOL

Wishing you much peace, happiness and success,

Have fun, stay safe, and G-d bless,

Whenever you come to a fork in the road, what do you do? Well, if you've got two choices you either go left or right, right?

Now what if you have to choose between 8 or 9 different options?

That's where I'm at and why I'm up at this time of night. I've been turning the options over and over in my mind. Trying to come up with some way to skewer everything onto an "I can do it all" kabob.

Ha ha. I can't do it all. I won't please everyone but more importantly, I wouldn't be happy with some of the options.

You know what I finally did? I said "screw it, it's my decision"! I got tired of trying to please everyone and thinking about how I could minimize their upset (which usually turns into meddling).

You know who you are. LOL

So that's it. That's all. Screw it, it's my decision.

Have fun, stay safe and God bless,
Penny

Elephants are large, powerful animals. Have you ever wondered how do they get enough fuel to power their massive bodies?

Yep. Mighty beast, mighty eater! =)

Isn't that wild?! Can you imagine what it would be like if we did that?

We just watched this for the first time and we so inspired.

Sometimes we start to think we don't have what it takes and we feel like giving up.

Sometimes we need to be reminded of how awesome we really can be.

Whether you have a disability different-ability or not, we all know what it feels like not to be the best at something. We all know what it feels like to not be able to "win" now and then.

Ask yourself what Nick Vujicic asked in the video, "Are you going to finish strong?"

So I woke up this morning feeling overwhelmed with the To Do list stuff. Like most WAHM's who are also single parents, homeschoolers and homesteaders, the day started off with a worried jolt.

The chickens were clucking their OMG, OMG, OMG total freak-out chant. Something was scaring them and possibly wanting them for breakfast!

After investigating, I was no closer to an answer than before I headed out. I have no idea what their deal was but it made me think of how we humans are a lot like that.

There are times when we freak out and those around us simply stare, scratch their heads and go "wha?". To us, there was a big problem either looming like a mountain ahead or standing right in front of us. To them, it was the long shadow of a mole hill.

Perspective. Ain't it wild?

On another note, I'm doing my "Happy Dance Time" thing (which I'm glad you can't see) because I'm going to host my very first women's retreat in July!

It's been a dream of mine but I never verbalized it. This morning, I accidentally stumbled onto a match that lit my powder keg. It all fit nicely into the holes in the groundwork that my subconscious had apparently already laid out.

Talk about the Good Lord manifesting in some strange and wondrous ways! LOL

No, seriously. I know a lot of folks talk about how "the Good Lord this" and "the Good Lord that" but I promise, this is a totally true "OMG He's Awesome!" thing.

Am I making sense? Not sure. I am so excited. It feels like everything is falling into place and I'm going in the right direction and .. OMG. He's Awesome and I'm hosting an women's retreat in July - on the internet! No excuses for those who say they can't afford to travel! LOL =)

Ahh, posting interrupted, no? LOL

Well, happily, I have a good, good excuse reason: I redesigned GR Jensine, Inc. to match my personality and my mission.

So, finally, after months and months of tweaking and hemming and hawing, I caught my vision.

Tonight I realized I have a little cleaning up to do but it's more like a dust pan job than a mop and broom biggie.

Now I can relax, let my personal flag fly here and do my work thing there.

Oh yeah, we've also added some programs to CJ's website! The "Natural Kid" series is going to be uploaded over the weekend (God willing).

Just think, you'll be able to check him out in all his Nature Guide glory as we explore our south Texas homestead! =)

On the pet front, we had a woopsie. Turns out one of the tom cats we brought down from NY actually got one of our TX kittens pregnant before he got neutered! Weird that we didn't notice or hear anything.

We found her on Easter, flopped down and fading. She never went into heat, wasn't prepared and that was the biggest kitten I've ever seen in my life!

We're thankful she made it (and got spayed at the same time) but cried over the lost kitten. Huge, breech birth, trapped half-out for who knows how long. Nothing we could do for him/her.

CJ had been trying to tame the little girl for a while without success. After that incident, she's suddenly become a cuddler.

The other wild kittens are still wild but we've got a plan. The way to a kitty's heart is through the tummy!

There have been more rattlesnake sightings, no more javalina and the dogs sing to the coyotes every night. Otherwise, the homestead is pretty uneventful.

Work is definitely the most interesting part of my life right now, second of course to being CJ's mom and homeschooling. ;)

How have you all been? What is going on in your lives? Leave a comment or send me a message. I'd love to catch up! =)

The non-profit International Children's Digital Library Foundation calls itself "A Library For The World's Children" and we definitely like that!

They have tons of digital books available in many different languages. Don't worry about having too many choices though. Their super helpful book search page makes finding the right book a snap.

Cute Baby Animals - Must... Stay... Awake...
CJ and the Webmom
Summer fun doesn’t all have to be about expensive days out or going on vacation. There are many things you can do for free or low cost in your local area and even in your home! Here are a few activities to have up your sleeve when you start to feel bored.

1. Local Tourist Information

You may not be a tourist in your hometown, but it's well worth checking with your local tourist information desk, or even the local library, to find out whether there are any events happening in the local area. There's usually plenty happening in the summer for families. Summer events offer something different and are great fun for the entire family.

2. Cycle Routes And Walks

Summer fun is all about getting outside and enjoying the weather! Check online to see whether there are any cycle routes or walks in your area that you've never tried before. You can also create your own and explore new areas of your hometown that you may never have been to before. If you've got younger kids in your house, you can transport them in a child seat on the back of your bike (like the Webmom would do with CJ), and have a picnic when you reach your destination.

3. Play Some Sports

Sports are a great way to keep your whole family entertained in the summer. Keep an eye out for your local leisure center offering deals specifically catered to kids who aren't in school for the summer. You'll often find that the costs are cheaper if you go at a certain time of the day, or if kids are under a certain age. You can get to try out a whole range of new and exciting sports this way.

You could even team up with other families in your homeschool co-op to rent out a whole sports facility for a great day spent being active! Or take it to the park with a simple ball to keep things free.

4. Your Local Library

Most of us don't even realize just how much our local library has to offer. On normal days, parents can spend a few hours there while kids browse books and play in the children's section. On other days, the library may host special art events, singalongs, or other fun (and affordable) events.

Our local library hosts monthly Milk and Cookie nights, Donuts with Dad reading time and usually always has something going on for storytime several times a week.

5. Take Pictures And Videos

Taking photos and videos really can be turned into a day full of summer fun for everyone! Use a digital camera (or a waterproof disposable one if you're going to be in the water) and find fun things to take photos of. Get really creative. You might come up with more impressive shots than you might have imagined! Or simply record the family having fun all summer and put together some home movies to enjoy on a rainy day.

6. Talk To Other Families

Most of all, get talking to other families to get a feel for what's going on in your area. This can mean talking in person or joining an online forum full of families who have kids of a similar age. Between you, you'll be able to come up with some ideas for summer fun to satisfy everyone!

When you start to feel overwhelmed and alone, empower yourself through positive self-talk and review the S.M.A.R.T. goals you set for yourself.

Sometimes all it takes is a gentle reminder that - regardless of what anyone else may or may not say - you are on the right path for you and your contribution does matter.
